At Brunel Shipping we are extremely proud of our heritage and our people, bringing together more than 150 years of freight-forwarding excellence under one roof.
More than fifty years ago, Phil Clayton, the company’s founder and current MD, began working as a water clerk in the docks in South Wales, checking in the ships as they reached port. Within a few years he had moved into freight-forwarding. Having landed a huge contract, he was asked by his bosses to open an office in Bristol. With Bristol’s history as a centre for industry, where for centuries goods had come in and out of the city’s docks, the opportunity was irresistible and, having successfully fulfilled his original remit, a decade later he and a partner decided to go it alone.
In 1986, Brunel Shipping was born. Now employing approximately 30 people across three offices in Bristol, London and the Midlands, with an approximate turnover of around £25 million each year, the company’s name has become synonymous with quality, reliability and efficiency. Best of all, Brunel Shipping remains an independently run freight-forwarding business that for decades has prided itself on personal service.
